Little House In The Big Woods Party

We got our first snowfall of the year today, there's a fire in the fireplace and everything is so cozy as the sun sets outside. Growing up, the Little House series of books was one of my favorites and I think it would be so much fun to throw a Little House In the Big Woods party.

Depending on the age of the children, we could make our log cabins out of pretzel sticks, popsicle sticks, or lincoln logs. Or we could prepare log cabins out of gingerbread ahead of time and bring them out for the children to decorate.

We could create clove studded apples or shake jars of heavy cream to make our own butter.

If it looked like snow outside was not likely, we could cut snowflakes for garlands and to hang in the windows. For a buffet, I'd imagine seasonal vegetables, sausage, a cheese platter, corn cakes, maple sugar candy or a honey cake. In the background there would be the sounds of fiddle music. And for favors, what would be sweeter than candy hearts in a little muslin bag, today's modern Candy From Town printed with messages.
